In his recent visit to Sofia, Bulgaria, Chairman Robert Singer paid tribute to the Bulgarian jurists who valiantly saved the Jewish community during the Holocaust, despite Bulgaria's affiliation with the Nazi regime. He also called to permanently outlaw the Neo-Nazi Lukov March, during his speech at the University of Sofia and in meetings with Bulgarian leadership. While some measures have been taken, Mr. Singer emphasized that more action is required to combat antisemitism. He called for Bulgaria to emerge as a leader in the global fight against antisemitism, especially in Europe.
Furthermore, together with Combat Antisemitism Movement, we had the honor of hosting in Israel a distinguished delegation from Bulgaria, led by Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, to discuss issues related to the legal system of Bulgaria, implementing the IHRA Definition, protecting the Bulgarian Jewish community and combating neo-Nazi activities in the country.
