This week, the Center for Jewish Impact (CJI), in partnership with the Embassy of Cyprus in Israel, hosted a Diplomatic Salon entitled "Innovating Tomorrow Together: Enhancing Cyprus-Israel Collaboration in Research and Innovation." Held at the residence of His Excellency Kornelios S. Korneliou, the Cypriot Ambassador to Israel, and co-hosted by CJI Chairman Robert Singer, the event brought together esteemed leaders from Israel and Cyprus in the fields of industry, research, and innovation. This gathering served as an invaluable platform for exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities for future collaboration between the two nations.
Among the distinguished speakers were H.E. Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology of Cyprus, who made a special visit to Israel for this event; Prof. Abraham (Avi) J. Domb, Chief Scientist of Israel's Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology; Asaf Almagor, CEO of Bazan Group; Shlomi Kofman, Vice President and Head of the International Collaborations Division at the Israel Innovation Authority; and Aviva Steinberger, Chief of Staff at Start-Up Nation Central. The event was moderated by Sofronis Papageorgiou, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Cyprus in Israel.
The Salon showcased engaging discussions on advancing Cyprus-Israel partnerships through innovation, with a focus on strategic sectors such as energy, healthcare, environmental sustainability, maritime technologies, and artificial intelligence. These discussions underscored the transformative potential of such collaborations, with the goal of enriching the partnership between Israel and Cyprus and broadening the dialogue.
Through a series of panel discussions, presentations, and informal networking sessions, attendees had the opportunity to explore mutual objectives and share insights on emerging trends and challenges in research and development. This Diplomatic Salon highlighted the importance of strong diplomatic and scientific ties between Cyprus and Israel, celebrating a shared commitment to innovation, progress, and the exploration of
new frontiers for impactful collaboration.
